Did you all send thoughts of safety and appreciation for our troops today? Are you ready to find out why I asked you to do that? Good! Because I’m excited to tell you!
In The Synchronized Universe, Chapter 5 deals with the power of group consciousness. Dr. Swanson postulates “When many minds act collectively, in unison, it does indeed affect space, time and physics in a surprising and remarkable way. This effect has been demonstrated in the work of Dr. Dean Radin of the Noetic Society, Dr. Roger Nelson of Princeton University, and Professor Bierman of the University of Amsterdam. These researchers have discovered that when many minds focus on the same thought, the quantum randomness of the Universe is reduced.”
How did they figure that out? The 1995 Academy Awards, the O.J. Simpson Trial, the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, and a few Random Event Generators (REG’s) helped them solve the riddle. A Random event generator is like a continual electronic coin tossing machine – the number received on the first toss tells nothing about the number received on the second toss, and remaining subsequent tosses. Additionally, one REG doesn’t affect the output of another REG, according to the known laws of physics. Except that when Group Think comes into play, it does!
In the 1995 Academy Awards Experiment, Nielsen families’ (the ones with the boxes on their TV’s to measure the Nielsen Ratings) attention was measured against two REGs, twelve miles apart. As the attention increased on the show, the REGs began to synchronize. This proved that group consciousness does affect events and that the more people involved in the group, the more powerful is the effect (Swanson, 2003).
The O.J. Simpson trial showed the same results. As people tuned into both the pre-trial show and the verdict, the REGs again synchronized, and acted as if they were coupled together. Human consciousness does affect the world around us, and if many minds focus together, the effect is magnified (Swanson, 2003).
Here’s what Radin (1997) concluded after their numerous experiments with the global network of REGs:
Consciousness extends beyond the individual and has “quantum field” like properties, in that collective effects exist.
Consciousness injects order into systems in proportion to the strength of the consciousness present.
The strength of consciousness fluctuates from moment to moment and is regulated by the focus of attention.
A group of individuals can be said to have a “group consciousness”
When the members of a group are focused on different things the strength of the group consciousness is effectively zero
Physical systems respond to consciousness by becoming more ordered (less random)
The 9/11 Terrorist Attach was even more fascinating because it affected the global network of 37 REGs from the Global Consciousness Project (which has since grown into 50 REGs). In this study, it can be seen that the synchronization of the REGs begins to occur a full day in advance of the attack, begins a steady increase at 6AM the morning of, and then sharply increases at the exact time that world coverage (and thus consciousness) of the event began. The odds of this type of occurrence are astronomical at 600,000 to 1!
According to Swanson, this could show some sort of precognition which could in the future serve as a powerful early warning system against attacks and natural disasters. There are no mechanisms in place to explain this effect other than Niels Bor’s “Copenhagen Interpretation” which implies that human consciousness is intimately involved in every physical measurement (Swanson, 2003).
These same studies were applied to meditation and prayer in the form of a study that had groups focus on reducing crime and traffic accidents in a certain area. Dr. James Twyman in 2003 led a global prayer for peace, and once again, the REGs synchronized, and traffic and crime were indeed reduced. They repeated this study 17 times, and each time created the same result…mass prayer and meditation resulted in synchronized REGs against the known laws of physics with a reduction in crime and accidents. Randomness and chaos are greatly reduced after prayer and meditation.
This once again proves that our thoughts really are things – they do affect reality – especially when groups are involved. This is why Larry Ellison mandates meditation for his Executives. The Executive team is putting their intent toward a greater good – the good of the organization, and they are reaping the reduced chaos and randomness of their industry as a result.
This is why Marc Benioff started the 1-1-1 campaign when he founded Salesforce.com – what better way to get groups focused on making better communities than having the business donate 1% of revenue, 1% of product, and 1% of volunteer time, and what better way to ensure that the group stays synchronized on the key core values of the organization to reduce the chaos that can occur as a company expands as rapidly as they have?
And as for Du Pont, they regularly send their scientists through guided remote viewing exercises that take their scientists on an “out of body experience” to the future, where they then see inventions they bring back and patent!
I think the best warning from all this research comes from Dr. Radin’s conclusion that when members of a group are focused on different things, the strength of the group consciousness is effectively zero, leaving the group open to randomness and chaos. IMHO, this is the real reason strategic plans should be developed. Without a true understanding of the common “things” organizations (one big group) should be focused on, the effect of all the actions of the employees is effectively ZERO. We’ve seen this time and again with the failed corporations we’ve watched crumble over the past two years. The “stated goals” to the organization couldn’t have been more different than the actual goals on Executive Row, which completely diluted the effect of the entire organization – a zero end game was the result. If only they had paid attention to a little thing called “woo woo”!
As Dr. Swanson concludes, “thoughts do have the power to bring into reality that which they visualize.”
And now you know why I’ve asked you to send thoughts and prayers of safety and appreciation to our troops today. Our thoughts really are things – they do have the power to bring into reality what we visualize –and as a result, who knows…we all could have saved a few soldiers’ lives today!
