I Got Some Monkey Chantin ‘Splainin To Do!
I recently attended an event with Max Simon, where we were led through a Monkey Chanting experience. I’m a pretty adventurous spirit, but this had me initially flumuxoned. (I don’t know if “flumuxoned” is actually a word, but who cares. That’s how it made me feel.)
Monkey Chanting is a form of Balinese dance expression that retells the story of a battle in Ramayana, where Prince Rama battles the evil Ravana to get his Queen back. Alas…even in Bali all battles begin with a woman. Go figure.
I think if the facilitators would have presented the experience as an expression of dance before we began, I might have been able to relax and understand it for what it was – art combined with energy work, using Chi (both the energy and the word) as the basis for changing the tempo of the dance. Instead, we just jumped on into chanting in rounds – sort of like Balinese “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” with a ton of body touching and swaying, and since I had no idea what we were chanting, I was conjuring up all kinds of imaginations. I can be very creative when left to my own devices. Dark forces and weird looking masks came to the forefront of my mind as we began the session, and then my ego took over. My first impulse was to get up and run like hell – crap, this was being filmed and I sure as heck didn’t want to wind up on You Tube looking like a whacked out granola!
I’m part Hawaiian and Tahitian, so expressive dance isn’t something new to me. Sitting on a floor with a bunch of Generation X’ers knee to knee chanting and hooting like moneys with their hands in the air, though, is a far cry from the Hula.
And then, something in me snapped. I can’t explain it, but something in the chanting and the movement released a bunch of pent up emotional pain, and I decided that I was going to stick it out, panic attack be DAMNED!
I’m sick of running from things that make me uncomfortable in my life. I spent a great deal of my past thinking that if I just breathed a bad experience away – if I ignored it, professed to forgive, and did everything I could to avoid conflict that things would automatically get better. Guess what? They didn’t and they never will. That’s crooked thinking, and all I ever got for that was a continual helping of all the crap I didn’t want in my life.
The only thing constant in those experiences and exchanges between people was ME. And the only way for all of that to change was for me to change ME. I saw all of that on the other side, and when I agreed to come back, I decided that I would embrace my fear, but I hadn’t really had a huge test until these past 90 days. Given everything and everyone who exited out of my life, I thought I failed on a grand scale.
But you know what? I didn’t really lose at all. I see that now, and I’m grateful for the exits. How else would I ever have been able put myself in the middle of a Balinese Monkey Chant in spite of sweaty palms, fight or flight nausea, and a pounding heart? Experiencing something totally new, being completely adventurous, and getting to “work sh*t out” in such an integrated way would have been very difficult to achieve in my old paradigm. What a fantastic change in fortune! Mae West said “Well behaved women rarely make history”, and I say “Amen, Sister”! If I show up ass first on You Tube, so be it!
I changed my belief, and in so doing, I embraced the fact that new experiences are necessary for growth to occur. So now I say, “Bring it On.” Oh, and you better be prepared to do your own Monkey Chant when you come to one of my events! If I can do it, so can you!

Memorial Day
This Memorial Day, I choose to remember that while I’m celebrating with my family and friends, many others are loving and living with the memories of those who died to keep me free. My Dad served 25 years for our country, and while he didn’t always agree with the politics in Washington, he loved our freedom, fought for it, and died a service related death as a result. Remember the families of those left behind this Memorial Day by sending a thought/prayer of appreciation for their sacrifice!
Is this woo woo stuff for REAL?!
Every once in awhile, I get a left-brain ego attack that sounds something like this…
“Is this hoo ha, smack-a-lackin, woo woo stuff for REALS, or did your brain take a deep dive into the abyss with the hemorrhage?! Get back to technology and STOP this crap already!”
And then my right brain, gently and effectively shoves an ice pick into the ego’s heart by delivering me my “Intellectual McDreamy” in the form of Claude Swanson, Ph.D. – a MIT & Princeton trained, nationally recognized physicist with both a National Science Foundation and Putnam Fellowship under his belt who has written two books: The Synchronized Universe: New Science of the Paranormal and LIFE FORCE, The Scientific Basis: Breakthrough Physics of Energy Medicine, Healing, Chi, and Quantum Consciousness. Yes, it’s true, my Intellectual McDreamy could use a good editor to help him jazz up his book titles so they don’t sound like scientific treatises, but I got past it. Everyone has to have some sort of humanness, right? His just comes in the form of yawner book titles. I can live with that. Anyway, I digress.
I’m only part way through the first book , 105 pages into 272 eight by eleven, ten point, single spaced Times New Roman, and jam-packed with awesome info, and I had to put it down and get this out. (The book is actually more than 300 pages long, but pages 273 – 299 reference the scientific experiments he quotes.)
This is so stinking cool I don’t even know where to start. Okay. We’ve all heard people like Bob Proctor and his protégés like John Assaraf, David Neagle, Joe Vitale, and Tony Robbins say things like, “Thoughts are THINGS!,” and then quote either The Bible or Napoleon Hill “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” to get us roo-rah’d up for the sell-fest.
Our Soul wants to believe this, and so we swallow the sell-fest and buy more products that help us understand what our left-brain can’t figure out. That’s why the personal development field continues to grow, even in current economic times.
Our humanness is still in protection mode, though, and it does everything out there to soften the potential failure with thoughts like “Where’s the proof? Western Science hasn’t proven it, so it might not be real – don’t get too excited,” while we make our way through the latest and greatest audio, video, or brain entrainment program.
This in turn, creates a cycle that provides us seemingly random results from the “woo woo” because through those statements, we’re training our sub-conscious to doubt, which then negatively affects results. We try to wash the disappointment away by discrediting because we can find no true “scientific evidence” that thoughts really are things, and thus, we become skeptical again until our soul finds the override button. Here’s the jaw dropper…Western Science has proven that thoughts are things – time and time again – since 1959.
Synchronized Universe takes the reader step by step through the gifts of Remote Viewing, Psychokenisis, Extra Sensory Perception, Cell to Cell Communication, Group Consciousness, and beyond. I’m at Group Consciousness. The scientific experiments that have been undertaken to date for these four gifts prove beyond any reasonable doubt, that they all exist. In the case of Remote Viewing, the result of 334 separate experiments proved that the energy from Remote Viewing can only be due to chance with a probability of one in fifty-five billion!
Most of you who know me personally know that I have a pretty intense analytical bent. I will intellectually pick something apart until it is in shreds at my feet. It is this gift that caused me to be afraid of and deny all of the other gifts I was also given until I physically couldn’t do so anymore. It is these gifts that Dr. Swanson proves are more powerful than any analytical mind can conceive. My Intellectual McDreamy has delivered the goods!
Take that ego! Ice pick in the heart. Oh yeah! Can you see me doing the jiggy dance? If you find typos or misspellings, you now know why. It’s a little hard to type and chair dance at the same time.
Tomorrow, I’m going to go into Group Consciousness in-depth because I’ve finally figured out why Larry Ellison of Oracle mandates that all his executives meditate, and why DuPont leads its scientists through remote viewing exercises, and why Marc Benioff created the 1-1-1 strategy for Salesforce.com. These are all woo-woo ninja strategies turned inside out that billion dollar businesses are using to their advantage, and the data that backs them up from our own government will blow your mind.
I hope you’re all enjoying your long weekend. Don’t forget to acknowledge our troops. Send out thoughts and prayers of safety tonight. You’ll know why tomorrow!
Don’t Be Hatin
Wow. I didn’t think the last blog post would bring out so many reactions filled with vitriol toward my friend. I honor and respect each response I receive and I love and thank you all for your friendship and feelings of protection.
Here’s the scoop though. I am not going to approve blog responses that call my friend names to be posted in our DGG Community. I love my friend and the lesson in the post really wasn’t about him at all. 98% of the post was explaining the event, and 2% was the nugget about how to successfully turn lemons into lemonade by listening to the soul instead of the ego.
Ego says “I’ve been used”. We all have an ego, and we have all felt that way at some point in our past. We’ll all feel it again until our soul leaves our body. Ego says, “That jackass. I’ll never extend my contacts to him again!” And then it teaches a lesson of protectionism and what not to do in the future. I’m sure you’ve heard of the “Ninety-Eight Percenter Rule”, right? Ninety-eight percent of the population is either dead, or dead broke by the time they are 65. They got there by listening to their ego. Ego is a “Ninety-Eight Percenter”.
The soul says, “Okay. What did I do that was successful in that exchange? What behavior am I going to repeat in the future for even more success?” The flip side of the “Ninety-Eight Percenter” rule is the “Two Percenter” rule which states, Two percent of the population controls the actions of the ninety-eight percent. We all too, have a soul, and our soul is yearning to teach us how a “Two-Percenter” interprets life. The soul teaches lessons of forgiveness, openness, and introspection.
I’ve always found it ironic when people say the ego is self-centered. Honestly, the ego is so focused on trying to control everyone else that it forgets to be self-centered. The soul is truly self-centered. The soul focuses on the only thing that can be controlled in any life experience – itself – and then it lets God (The Universe, Spirit…insert your preferred label here) take care of the rest.
I learned on the other side that everything is energy, including our soul. That’s why, when we die, all the machines that measure energy in the body flat-line – our soul takes the only energy the body really ever had with it. I also learned that the greatest energy we have is the energy of love, and it is the single greatest healing source on this planet.
Because of that, I have one more BIG ASK: Hold out energies of love, acceptance, and courage for my friend. Put that energy out there so that his soul can take it all in and teach him the lesson he needs to learn: to have the courage to take the steps he needs to for his own soul’s fulfillment. We’ve all done some pretty goofy things in life, haven’t we? Let’s have a community that creates the space that allows us to learn how to be a “Two Percenter”. And let’s “don’t be hatin” anymore, okay?
Love ya.
What To Do When You’ve Been Used
I recently got a wake up call, that I’d like to share with you. I helped a friend out of a pretty tight situation with both money and contacts a few months ago, and I called on him recently to help promote the annual fund raising event of the charity that helped him out of the situation. What I received in return was a complete rebuff. Absolutely no response – no action – a complete and total smack down.
Now, here’s the deal. I didn’t ask to personally be repaid any of the money I gave. I gave that money willingly and I don’t want it back. All I asked for was that he (a) consider attending the event as my guest (which would have gotten him front row seating to see some of the most amazing minds in marketing today) OR (b) if attendance wasn’t possible, to post this annual event to his Facebook and his Linked In pages with an endorsement to get the word out to help promote awareness.
The attendance fee is $495 for two days, June 26 & 27 (a weekend). I realize that $495 seems like a lot of money for an attendance fee. I also realize that because of this man’s position, he could easily have taken it as a business expense, given the relevance of the charity and the information lined up for these two days. I also factored in the fact that he lives less than an hour away from the event, so the only expenses he would have incurred would be driving time, attendance time, and lunch. It seemed like a pretty small fee for the position this charity helped him get out of.
Given his actions, the only conclusion I can draw is that he used me and my contacts to get him off the hook of having to face a pretty significant consequence. Now, he probably never meant to use me, and most likely, he doesn’t even see it this way right now. The fact of the matter though, is that life is always about quid pro quo. When someone takes the time to help you, in order to be wildly successful, you must have the reciprocity gene built into your Divine DNA! Life always involves some give and take. Taking without giving is called usury, and it’s a sure fire way to failure. You may not be able to give “in kind”, and that’s just fine. You should be able to do something, though. Doing anything else is just plain bad business – personally, professionally, and spiritually.
So what do you do when you’ve been used? Most would say ” learn what not to do, so that you don’t get used again”. That’s a pretty good step, but do you want to know the gold standard for turning lemons into lemonade? Here’s what you REALLY do…you have to figure out what part of your behavior was successful in the exchange, and then repeat it until you get a successful outcome. You also have to forgive and forget, because focusing on and holding onto the negative only gets you more of the same.
So here’s the part of my behavior that was successful. I purchased my seat to the event and posted the link on my Facebook and Linked In pages. I asked one person to do the same. I realize that I (a) asked the wrong person, and (b) didn’t ask big enough!
So here’s the BIG ASK: head on over to www.paidforlife.com, and take a look at both the event and the charity. If you find it in your heart to be able to support it, post a link on your Facebook and Linked In pages! Better yet, purchase your seat and come join me for an unforgettable weekend of fun-filled education!
Paula Abdul’s Secrets to Transformation
How to Hurl Like a Star
I’m sure you’re all waiting with baited breath for my update on what it was like to be mentored by Paula Abdul. I promise to get that out as soon as I can, but I had an experience that I have to share, because it taught me a great lesson.
I wasn’t feeling all that well on Tuesday morning, and a very nice participant came to the event with Wheat Grass Juice and offered it to some of us. My gut feeling said “oooh…I don’t think so”, but I was told that it is absolutely wonderful for the body, so I gave it a go. It tasted like the many pastures of fresh green grass I’ve planted my face in from falling off my horse, so I didn’t think much of it until I started to burp chlorophyll. I then had the fleeting gut thought “oooh…I shouldn’t have done that”, but the day was starting, so I ignored it.
About 1/2 hour later, I was sitting in the conference room, and Joe had just finished teasing Paula with a marketing stunt that KISS used in the 1970′s, and I felt my heart begin to race. I literally felt the energy leaving my body, and I had a remarkable sense to flee the room. I packed up my belongings and walked out of the conference room, and Jen from Brendon’s team followed me out and asked me if she could help. I told her I wasn’t feeling well, and she offered to walk with me back to the hotel.
It has been an incredibly long time since I’ve been in touch with my hurling side, so I really had no clue it was itching to express itself, so I keep walking to the hotel. I’m in stiletto 7 inch platform heels, straight leg jeans, and a really cool top. Shoot, I’m meeting with Paula Abdul, so I better look like something hot, right? All of a sudden, I feel myself begin to wretch, and I realize that I’m not going to make it to my room!
Jen and I are at the hotel entrance, and I see one of those cement trash bins. I charge over there and unceremoniously chuck up my wheat grass juice and my oatmeal in the most violent hurl I’ve had since the hemorrhage! I swear, my toenails would have come with if they hadn’t been attached. Jen patiently held my hair back, and one done, we sat on the bench together while I collected myself.
I went to my room and lay down for a bit, and then returned to the seminar. I apologized to Jen for having to go through that with me, and she laughed and told me that I hurled like a star. I apparently lifted the lower part of my right leg off the ground into some sort of Marilyn Monroe pose at the beginning of the hurling episode, and it didn’t hit the ground again until it was all over. So there you have it. That’s how you hurl like a star. I guess if you make it look graceful or sexy, you can get away with just about anything in public!
Now here’s the lesson. When your gut gives you those fleeting messages, listen to them! I later learned that a person new to wheat grass juice should only take about one ounce, and even then, one of the side effects for newbies is often nausea. I had slammed down four ounces of the green gunk! I lost half a day with Paula and I was sick until today! If I had listened to my gut, I wouldn’t have experienced so much down time. Our gut feelings are directly attached to our spiritual gift of intuition.
If we’ve been ignoring our intuition, learning to use our gut feelings again may be frustrating, because they may be wrong more often than they are right initially. The trick is to keep practicing, because once you give your body permission to use your intuition, it is uncanny how quickly your accuracy will improve.
I’m back in the saddle, and committed to getting you my notes from Paula today! Thanks for hanging in there with me!
Many blessings,
On My Way to see Paula and Joe
I’m heading out to a seminar in Phoenix, Arizona to learn from Paula Abdul and Joe Polish. While Paula is a celebrity and has been seen on American Idol for years, most people forget about the number of times she has reinvented herself. She is savvy in business and I’m looking forward to understanding her framework for reinvention. Joe is the creator of Piranha Marketing, and his CD’s have been Nightingale-Conant’s top selling general marketing CD’s for the past three years.
As you know, I haven’t been back to Phoenix since my brain hemorrhage. Honestly, I’m a little nerve-wracked by the situation. First, there are only 20 people in this seminar, and we had to answer some pretty intense questions, deliver a bio, and provide a head shot ahead of time so that Paula and Joe could understand where we’re coming from. I know I was brought back here to share what I learned on the other side – I just never expected that within a year of the brain bleed, I would be sitting in front of the team of people I am so privileged to learn from and be asked to share my story!
You have to understand where I came from, to understand how much this blows me away. I have friends who have signed up to be a part of our community who have known me since I was 21 years old. At that time, I was living in an apartment with a roommate, driving a Ford Escort with no grill, because I couldn’t afford to fix it, and had absolutely NO bankable skills except intelligence and drive. We have a creator who is completely amazing, and who has blessed me beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Our Divine DNA naturally yearns to measure up to that greatness, and it’s kind of a paradox that we are bound by the laws of the physical universe to make that happen.
Yesterday was Easter – a time when Christians celebrate Christ’s resurrection. I think this time of year gives us all the opportunity to look at ourselves with new eyes – to resurrect those dreams we thought were gone, and reinvent ourselves according to our soul’s highest good.
Do you know what Divine DNA stands for? Your Divine DNA means: Your Divine Destiny Now Awaits! And it does. It’s that seed way down deep inside of you that has always known you were destined for greatness. It’s time to stop ignoring the call of your soul. All you have to do is resurrect your dreams and reinvent yourself, and when I get back, I’ll help you put a framework together in your life that will help make that happen.
We’ll talk on Thursday about how to do that during these busy times!
Have a great week!
